Dog Size Chart is a reference. You may read it, quote a figure with a link back, and use the calculators for your own dog. You may not republish the compiled dataset wholesale.

Sizes are a starting point, not a fitting

Every size on this page comes from a maker’s own published chart, read on a stated date. Charts change, products are revised, and the same label means different things across brands. A size shown here is where to start measuring, not a promise of fit. Nothing on this site says a size “will fit”, and you should check the maker’s current chart before you buy.

Breed figures describe published breed standards, not your dog. Individual dogs sit outside those ranges all the time. Only 57 of 127 breed records carry a published chest or neck girth at all; where there is none, an answer based on weight is labelled as the weaker method, and sometimes there is no answer to give.

Dog Size Chart publishes measurements. It does not give veterinary, medical or behavioural advice, and nothing here diagnoses or treats anything.

• A crate size from this site is about whether a dog can stand, turn and lie down in it. It says nothing about how long a dog should be crated, or whether crating suits your dog.
• A harness or collar size is about circumference. It is not a judgment about pressure on a trachea, a collapsing airway, a healing injury or a brachycephalic dog’s breathing. Those are questions for your vet.
• Weight bands on a maker’s chart are the maker’s own. They are not a view on whether your dog’s weight is healthy.
• If a dog is in pain, struggling to breathe, losing or gaining weight unexpectedly, or reacting badly to equipment, stop and speak to a vet.

Accuracy and liability

Numbers are transcribed carefully and dated, and known problems in a source are printed next to the figure rather than hidden. Even so, transcription errors and stale charts are possible.
